[captioning made possible by constellation energy group] captioned by the national captioning institute --www.ncicap.org-- >> our big story. volunteers putting their lives on the line. three firefighters have been seriously burned while fighting a fire in prince george's county. we have more on why volunteers risked their lives and how serious those injuries are. >> two of those firefighters are in critical condition. third is still being treated for injuries to his rib. they are alert and conscious. they were injured while trying to escape this riverdale home. >> what firefighters described as a blow torch coming out the front door. >> that have a gust of wind made a blowtorch type of effect out through the house, created a fireball affect. >> 7 firefighters were heard. four of them were treated and released with minor burns, but three are still in the hospital.

if mike mcqueary is being treated for injuries, while the thin and kevin remained in critical condition. one of them has burns on his respiratory system and the other has second and third degree burns covering 40% of his body. >> third degree burns are much worse carrot for first-degree is like a sunburn. third degree is like a soul burn. >> despite the severity, firefighters are still conscious and alert occurr. the firefighters are members of volunteer departments. officials say a safety investigation team will determine what could have been done differently or if any policies must change. he says the only difference between volunteer and career fighters is that the career one skid paid. >> for volunteer firefighters go to the same training. altogether, we are working

together for one purpose and that is to protect the lives and property of the community which we serve. >> no one was home during the fire and officials say that approximately $70,000 was the damage. >> those high winds have blown out of the area. what is in store for the rest of the weekend? >> those winds produced wind chill factors that may seem colder today than it really was. we have a bit of a breeze this evening but the wins have come down considerably from earlier today when costs were in the 40's and 50's. this is a map showing what the wind gusts are now. the yellow and orange are the strongest winds. from west to east, except for all along the far western maryland, the highest winds have shifted further east. that will continue.

the wind gusts are in the 20's and teens of to our west. that is still producing wind chills at 10 degrees below the air temperature. we will talk about how cold it gets to night and another warming trend coming up in a minute. >> baltimore county officials say citizens can report minor crimes online. haqqani plans to demonstrate the new system monday at the north kudo police precinct. the on-line reporting tool is available for hit-and-run and trees, abandoned vehicles, and death. martin o'malley will sign a bill legalizing same-sex marriage next thursday, making marylanders the a state and the nation to legalize same-sex unions. opponents of the bill want to bring the measures to a vote on the november ballot. to do so, they will be to collect 55,000 signatures. the governor is spending the weekend and washington discussing other issues affecting maryland.
